Pumpty Dumpty is working!

Dear readers, I apologize. My last post was depressing and sad. I was frustrated and a little angry that I had to go back into surgery. My PD catheter got fixed and the recovery was a lot easier. I did end up having to take a day off a couple days after because I was so exhausted and in some pain. Thankfully except for some minor pain off and on it's no longer bothering me and definately not like it was. After surgery they flushed it twice a week until this week. I was able to push off dialysis training to spring break. So we are at spring break and this week I have done dialysis training. I am doing what is called Peritoneal Dyalisis or PD. Basically they put some sugar water in my stomach lining and it pulls out toxins and then when they pull that liquid out they pull out extra liquid. The training can be 1-2 weeks. They did mine differently because I am working full time. You can do PD manually or with a machine. Because I want to do mine overnight I will be using the machine. My nurse is awesome and has really kept in mind that I am working full time and limited on time off. She pushed for the machine to happen. So Monday and Tuesday I learned about manual-there are several reasons why i might still need to do that at times. Yesterday and today I did some on the machine. Today I learned about putting medicine in the bags. I don't want to brag, but I think I was one of their best students. I was pretty much done yesterday with all my training and doing everything, so I didn't have to go back after lunch. My bedroom is starting to look like a medical room. So far my numbers are good and overall am doing ok so I know I'm lucky. My kidneys will continue to deteriate, but hopefully this will help slow it down. I do have to be on the machine for about 8.5-9hrs so I may have some days where I have to figure that out because of rehearsals. Tomorrow the nurse comes to my house to inspect my 'clean' area for dialysis. I'll be honest, I'm a horrible house keeper and have been even worse the past few years. My dad and brother came and helped me this week, but I have a long way to go. However my bedroom/closet and bathroom are ready to go. Please send positive thoughts it's ok. This is my machine
Positive things have been happening though. I took my daughter on an overnight trip. We went to the salt museum and a cool exotic bed and breakfast. I've had lunch with two friends this week. My daughter doesn't seem to mind not doing a bunch this week as long as she gets to play with her neighbor friends. And I got my car. oh and I got to hold a newborn baby, that I will see again sometime this week. And I'm healthy enough to still do things. Hopefully starting dialysis will help with my exhaustion and motivation. Thank you everyone for continuing to care about me. We are still hoping for a transplant to happen and praying it happens before my kidneys are completely shut down. I appreciate you all.
