I charge at night!
So it's been a little over three weeks since I started dialysis. It's been interesting. The process takes approximately 9.5hrs every night. I feel like I get plugged in to charge for the next day. haha. Doing this with a show has been interesting this past week, as I'm not home that long. It's been a little rough. Thankfully my numbers are pretty steady so I've been given permission to shorten it some this next week...thank goodness.
so some faqs
Is it making me feel better? Yes and no. The first week I was in a lot of pain so we switched up the formula and for the most part I'm doing ok. I'm a little less tired (or rather was until this past week).
Does it hurt? NO. MOst the time I don't even notice it happening, it is weird being tied to a machine. My cord is 20ft long though so I can move around.
Will my kidneys improve? No. They will conninue to decline. The dialysis is doing part of their job and hopefully helping me keep what function I have left for a while longer.
What is my next step? I still need a kidney transplant. I'm still on the list...but a live donor would be better. My doctor tells me I need to start telling people.
How long can I be on dialysis? NO idea, but the sooner I'm off the better.
Overall, I'm lucky and still feeling ok. Just tired and minor pain off and on. I appreciate those that have checked in on me and those that are praying still for me. A little over a month till summer. I'm looking forward to that.
